Roosterfish & Other Jacks of Panama
Roosterfish, Amberjack, Bluefin Trevally, African Pompano, Horse Eye-Jack and more
The Gulf of Chiriquí in Panama is where you can catch Roosterfish (Rooster Fish) and other Jack species. Most of these species are fast-swimming predatory fishes that hunt in the waters above reefs and in the open sea. Anglers will have an opportunity to fish for Roosterfish, Bluefin Trevally, Pacific Amberjack, and others. The largest fish in the family, the Pacific Amberjack can grow up to 6 feet in length. Fishing for a trophy size Roosterfish can result in catching species over 5 feet in length and over 110 pounds in weight. Casting topwater poppers is a favorite for many anglers. Stick bait and live Blue Runners are another form of catching these species. They are great fighters on light tackle when targeting these species.
Should you care to take a few species back to the lodge for dinner let your deck mate know. We also provide a deep freezer and vacuum pack should you wish to take fish back home. Just let us know when you arrive.
