Marlin, Yellowfin Tuna, Cubera Snapper Report

Cubera

Eye 2 Eye, Tooth for Tooth

Offshore & Inshore Sport fishing with Come Fish Panama we had anglers coming from Canada, United States, Europe, Central America and South America to round out the full month of March. Some getting away from the winter weather and looking forward to bend a few rods, others were season anglers looking to get in on the Panama bite. Never-the-less all anglers were looking to enjoy their time away from home.

Conditions

Through-out the month we had clear blue skies along with crystal blue water and continuous swells around 2-4 feet at most. During the mornings we had variable winds coming out of the NW at 4 to 6 knots and our ride home was a bit calmer with smooth seas and winds out of the South. Just about perfect conditions an avid angler would say!

Anglers/Species

Hosting all sorts of groups from different parts of the world

Cubera

Cubera Snapper on Deck!!

during these 4 weeks in March we had anglers looking to target Marlin, Pacific Sailfish, Yellowfin Tuna, Wahoo, Mahi-Mahi, Roosterfish, Cubera and other species gave us a whole bunch of options through-out the month. Yellowfin Tuna was one of the most requested pelagic each group was interested in, so we focused our attention to make sure we would find them and have these anglers fight them during their trip.

Well, the Yellowfin Tuna did not show up off the Chiriqui coast but further down the coast at Isla Jicarita which is located Southeast of Isla Coiba in the Veraguas region. We would however make the long run every now and them but it would be a hit or miss since the Yellowfin Tuna are not feeding aggressively on poppers, livebait bonito, livebait blue runners, jigs or trolling lures. These anglers manage to catch a a few Cubera Snappers, Wahoo, Marlin, Yellowfin Tuna, Roosterfish, Bluefin Trevally and other species but it still remained difficult to provide a consistence hook up on Yellowfin Tuna. We are looking forward to the change of tide in April where the Yellowfin Tuna will eventually change their choice of meal on the menu. CFP- Yellowfin on Deck!!“Poppers, Jigs, Blue Runners ect.”

March 2014 was a very slow month for fishing off the Northwestern Coast of Panama but we did manage to create action for our anglers as best as possible. Below are some but not all of the action pack photos during the month, we hope you enjoy the shots.

Our Thanks

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all our anglers that trusted Come Fish Panama with their fishing adventures. We look forward to seeing them and you in the near future. To catch up with these and other past anglers’ photographs, visit our Photo Gallery.
